Mission
Kijiji Solutions' approach to poverty alleviation addresses problems from within communities.

We build alliances with community leaders in slums to support community-based initiatives that promise environmentally sustainable and socially beneficial solutions to the many issues faced by residents in high density urban settlements.

We hope that by helping people help themselves we will have a greater and more lasting impact.
Impact
Kijiji Solutions is being recognized as an organization that gets things done.
​
To this end, the Chief of Gatwekera Village, Nehemia Amwocha, has suggested that Kijiji’s approach become a model for upgrading washrooms elsewhere in Kibera.
Chief Amwocha has proposed that his office, part of Kenya’s national government, join Kijiji Solutions in applying for international grants to replicate our current work.

Improving sanitation facilities, growing networks of waste and recyclables collectors, and funding workshops and classes directly affect community hygience and safety.

Poverty is a complex problem and persists all over the world because poor people have limited access to resources, suffer from educational barriers and economic inequalities.
Worse, poverty is growing because of political instability, climate change and environmental challenges.
Breaking the cycle of poverty requires economic development, equitable distribution of resources, investment in education and healthcare, and sustainable environmental practices.
